What kind of shark did these teeth come from?

Question by hyperjuize: What kind of shark did these teeth come from?
I’m trying to find out what kind of shark my small collection of sharks teeth came from, for my sons show and tell.
I’m having a heck of a time find anything but the history on sharks and anatomy of a tooth,
Can anyone please help me on finding out what type of shark a tooth came from?

It would be VERY difficult to determine that.

  1. Kisshy Says:

If it was a small set of teeth that came in a box, if they are brownish or greyish, and cool to the touch they may be fossil shark teeth (A very common kind of fossil, since sharks constantly shed their teeth, and in former ocean areas, they collect on the sea floor). It is possible he has a collection of teeth from living shark species, but those are rarer, and usually a bit more expensive.

Here are some good fossil and modern resources for identifying the teeth:

You can actually determine a shark’s species and body size from just their teeth, I don’t know if there’s a sort of data base for that information, but if it’s out there, you most definitely could.
