It *was* pretty amazing. Surprisingly unscary too, and definitely one of the highlights of my diving to date. There must have been between 40 and 50 of them in the water during the dive. Well worth the 10 hour trip out there on a converted prawn trawler through some pretty rough seas…..
Well, I have to admit I didn’t actually take the picture myself (but it is me in it). The photo was taken by Jules, the photographer on board the Taka II out of Cairns.

Cool pic. It would be amazing to see one of these up so close – especially in their natural habitat.
